Experimental Campaigns
The Code 613.1 Raman lidar group has participated in numerous measurement campaigns to better understand atmospheric processes, compare measurement technologies and for satellite validation. Some of these occur at NASA/GSFC, while most of them have taken place in field locations both in the United States and in the Bahamas. Whether these measurements have occurred at GSFC or in the field, we often deploy other instrumentation to measure water vapor and aerosols to aid in understanding the atmosphere. We use SuomiNet GPS to acquire continuous measurements of atmospheric total precipitable water and AERONET sunphotometer data for quantify various aerosol properties. We also use radiosondes to measure water, temperature and pressure and winds in the atmosphere. |
